I wholeheartedly support the efforts of the MSP FairSkies organization. I have been working to connect elected officials and other candidates to the FairSkies cause this year, and bring your handouts with me as I doorknock across the 13th ward. The best thing our community can do as a whole is to stay organized on this issue.

Ongoing, I will work to support the MSP FairSkies coalition goals of “equal distribution of airport noise across all neighborhoods, firm noise and pollution limits including the amount of environmental impact over homes, schools and parks, and expansion of alternative airports and regional rail that will alleviate the growth pressure on MSP.”

If elected, I will utilize my position representing you on City Council to advocate for an Environmental Impact Statement (more in-depth than an Environmental Impact Study) by an independent group using CNEL (Community Noise Equivalent Level). Also, I will ensure we fill the airport expert position that is budgeted but not currently filled at City Hall (since the death of Merland Otto in 2011). This position is a lobbyist position that I can work with across different levels of government, on statewide strategies, help us to expand the future use of runway 17, and effectively work with the FAA. I’ll continue to meet regularly with MSP FairSkies representatives and help give this cause voice in every way possible.

You can count on me to make minimizing airport impacts a top priority. I will be your advocate for fair solutions on these issues.
